Ontario Day Trip

When we were in Montreal we all decided we would go to the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. It was 1 1/2 hour drive from Adam and Jennilyn's. We rented a vehicle and followed Adam, JL and the girls. Thier car is the one in front of us in the picture. They had two way walkie-talkies so we could communicate on the drive. It was like we were in the same vehicle!

The girls getting loaded up for the sightseeing tours!! So neat to see our girls together!

This picture was behind the Parliament Buildings overseeing the Ottawa River. On the other side of the river is Hull, Quebec. We toured around the buildings while waiting for our tour time inside.

The tours are free to the public and you have to go through security to get inside. That was quite a process. We had to empty the strollers and I had to hand in the walkie-talkie till we were finished with the tour. Jay had Hannah asleep in the snugli and they said he would have to take her out. That would not have been very good for the tour. So his quick thinking saved the day! He realized that his watch was causing the alarms to go off and asked if he could take it off and go through to see instead of taking Hannah out! Whew! Thank goodness! She slept most of the tour. The building was amazing and a great experience to hear all about how our country works. It was a good review from high school!

Here is Jay and Hannah in the snugli in front of the doors to the House of Commons!

When we were finished with the tour we walked around looking for a restaurant to eat dinner. I can't believe how many restaurants there are to choose from. I would love to go back and walk the streets. There were many shops and patios to explore but we ran out of time. Upon walking around Jay and I discoverd the National Headquarters for Canada Customs and Revenue Agency! Of course we needed a picture of that!

Dinner was done and we thought we were on our way home but then we realized that the Parliament Building light and history show was about to begin. So we decided that we would stay and watch the show. It was really amazing to see. The lights were against the building and we all sat on the grass in front of the building to take in the show! We drove home around 10pm. Everyone was tired. Hannah fell asleep so we scanned the radio stations and discovered BOB FM! Adam's nickname is BOB so we felt it was pretty fitting. We beeped them in their car on the drive and shared our discovery! We made it home before midnight and put all the girls to bed then ourselves!! What an amazing day!
