Rain Day!

I don't know about all of you but I love a rain day once in a while. Especially in the summer. It is a day that you are forced to stay inside and do nothing at all!! You can read a book, watch movies, make phone calls, and just about whatever you want. You can also take care of some to the things you have put off doing all summer long as well. That is what today is for me!

Hannah and I woke up around 7am this morning and we got up and went downstairs to let Jay sleep some more. It was a really neat morning. We played on Hannah's floor mat, then we moved to the exercauser, where I read to her. It was actually a nutrition book but she seemed very interested! Then we moved to the bouncy chair and then to the swing where she fell asleep. I began cleaning up around the house trying to make room for the many things we are aquiring for Hannah. Funny how the baby has more "stuff" than Mom and Dad! Jay woke up later and we decided today was the day for Hannah to try some "real" food!

We got everything ready which included the usual paraphenalia; bib, highchair, food bowl with rice cereal, spoon, forgot the washcloth and had the video camera and digital camera ready! A good parent is supposed to check that everything is safe for their child! Including the highchair. Well, you would think that we checked that! After Hannah's first spoonfull there was a loud pop and our daughter was much lower on the pole for the highchair. There is a piece missing on our chair for the infant seat position and I guess we did not have it secure enough. Hannah's eyes were wide open and shocked at the impromtu ride she received and also very confused at the taste in her mouth! What a combination! Jay and I had a good laugh. Hannah was alright. Oh, and we also got the whole thing on video! Great! She did very well with her first meal! She ate the entire bowl. Well it was only a tablespoon of the cereal mixed with 3 tablespoons of water but it was a lot for her! Here are some pics below.

What are we going to do now?
First Spoonful!
Yummy!
Also today will be the day that I get the Thank you cards for all the gifts people gave to Hannah. It is so amazing how generous people have been. I just have not had time to get the cards done. So today is the day...I hope!
I may just decide to do nothing for the rest of the day. The house is clean, the bills are paid and Jay only has 2 more days left of his holiday! We may play some cards and spend some QT together! Who knows when he will get time off again. It has been really great having him home with Hannah and I.
Yesterday was a big day for Hannah as well. I went in to get her up from a nap earlier in the day and she was on her side. If you remember, I have been putting her down for her sleeps on her tummy so she had pushed herself to her side! We were really excited about that but it gets better! The next nap I went to get her because she was upset and when I went to her crib she was on her back!! Yippee! She rolled from her tummy to her back. Good Girl.
I just purchased a calendar that I can write down each of her accomplishments on so we will always remember what she has done. I just finished updating the last 15 weeks. Now we can concentrate on one day at a time! I would recommend it to anyone who has a child so that you will always have a reference for when they get older and ask you questions, you will have the answers!! I know I won't remember unless it is written down!!
Here is Hannah playing on our bed!
Mackenzie, our neice will be excited to know that Hannah is wearing one of her old overalls from when she was a baby this size. Kenzer is the fashion police who is almost 5 years old. I hope she approves of the outfit!! The shirt is from Calli and Marin. Thank you Calli and Marin for sharing! When we were in Montreal Calli came in to the room one day and said to me , "What's going down?" I love it! So, "What's going down with the rest of you?" Enjoy your day wherever it takes you. Happy 32nd JL!! Also Happy 30th Bob! Enjoy your birthdays. We will be thinking about you. Miss you, love you!!!

Thank you for the birthday greetings!!
Hannah is such a big girl eating cereal! Very cute! I think her outfit (Marin's hand-me-down shirt) is super cute. In fact, I believe Calli wore those overalls a few times too!!
