Sick Baby

Well Mom and Dad are on about 4 hours of sleep. Poor little Hannah woke up last night crying. Not too unusual this past couple of weeks. But what was unusual was a 39.4 C temperature. She was burning hot when I went in to check on her at 1230am. We stripped her clothes down and gave her some tylenol. Her temp came down a bit and then she finally settled and fell asleep again. We were going to take her to the hospital at that time but decided she was resting so we thought we would monitor her. She then woke up at 515 crying and high temp and very hard to settle so off to the hospital we went. We got in right away and they took her temp which was 39.3. She still had bright curious eyes through all that. They wanted to do some tests to see why her temp was so high. When babies are teething their temp does not go up so high. They could not find anything on the surface that would cause the high temp. So they had to take some blood from her to see if her WBC's (white blood cells) were elevated (these cells fight off infection). Poor girl had to get a needle. Then they wanted to check her urine. The bag was attached to her and the first two did not take. Can I tell you how frustrating that is when your baby is not feeling well? So the third one finally collected her urine. In the meantime they wanted her to have a chest xray. The contraption we had to put her in for this was pretty crazy. It was clear plexi glass that encircled the chest and her arms were held up to the sky and her legs dangled over a seat that was like a bike. Of course she screamed. Jay being only one winged right now (he tore some ligaments in his shoulder and is in a sling for 4-6 wks) so I had to put on some lead and stay there with her while she screamed. The things we put her through today. It was determined that she has a urinary tract infection. So she is now on antibiotics and tylenol and advil. It hurts her to pee. She cries when that happens. You would think that she would have slept all day today but alas she has only slept two half hour naps. She is mostly in good spirits as you can see in the picture but we are also getting some cuddles. It is so hard to see your baby sick and not being able to do anything about it. We left the hospital at around 9am. Do you see her poor little red cheeks? It helps that she is still energetic and happy. We have spent alot of time in the WL hospital. With Jay and his injuries since we have been here and now Hannah. I have been getting to know some of the people I will be working with but I would have rather that happened when I go back to work! We have never spent so much at the hospital. This is the end of it!!!!

In the meantime Hannah has been exploring the entire house. So we have had to babyproof. Just when I think I am done I have more to do.... Here is some of my handy work on the brick with the pipe insulation and duct tape! Funny thing. She thinks it is a toy to pull and yank at!

This next picture demonstrates how busy she has been. She took all the DVD's down and spread them out along with all of her toys. It was cute and fun the first couple of days but I have since put them out of her reach. I got tired of cleaning them up all the time. I did leave a couple of her CD's and a DVD out for her to play with though!

Ohhhh...Poor little girl! My littlest has another ear infection and is on antibiotics as well. My oldest and I have viral infections and are just going to continue to wait it out. Calli has a rotten cough and the kids are going through boxes and boxes of tissues. It's been 3 weeks now...Don't even ask.
Give Hannah a kiss from us. Hope she and her Dad get better soon! xxoo
